June's over?... Julying!

Ok.. a year ago I said I was back into the world of blogging but I totally mean it this time! Squiggle life!! I can't believe June has come and gone! I have had a great summer chilling and just enjoying time with my girl! So, July?? Wow!!! I have started the pinning for the new year on Pinterest and my Amazon cart has a few new items in it. That is about as far as I have gotten. I am mixed with emotions of AHHH summer break is fading fast and EEEk!!! I can't wait to meet the new littles and decorate my room. How do you feel about July and most importantly what are YOU pinning?

I'm back........

I am back after a LONG break.  A lot has happened since my last post. I have moved, my grandmother lost her battle to Alz, I found the University of Mississippi's Writing Project, love has been lost and gained, but one thing remains the same I am still teaching first grade. Tomorrow starts week 2 and it will be great! Have you started yet???

Catching Up!

So sorry! I have not been a very good blogger! Definitely going to do better! Thank you Dana for featuring me on New Blogger Tuesday!  Check her out at Fun in 1st Grade!

Where are we now? We are in the Daily 5/ Cafe groove! The kiddos are doing great and fully engaged! It blows me away at how effectively the kiddos are using their strategies independently! Any doubts you have had about the D5 don't worry just go with it! Totally worth it!

In other news, we are in fully swing of implementing the Common Core curriculum. So far I love it! It has been like a breath of fresh air!

How do you do it?

This year has been a big year of changes! New Principals, new curriculum and I'm new to the Daily Five and Cafe. I started Daily 5 on day one! WhooHoo! We are currently at 18 minutes on read to self! Way to go us! I have a question for my bloggers? How do you plan with your fellow teachers? Do you each plan on your own and create your own assessments? Do you plan together? Do you each plan different subjects and meet together together to pass out plans etc? Have you changed methods of planning to adapt to the core? How do you do it? I wanna know! :)

First Weeks of School!

Ohmiword! I have the first two weeks of school under my belt! I have the sweetest class! We are going to have a blast this year I know!  I started the Daily Five and Cafe in my classroom this year! So far we are rocking and rolling with read to self! It is amazing to see the kiddos all engaged in reading! We are building our stamina.

My pinterest projects.... I made this little frame for the first day of first grade modeled by very own firstie!

And... You are oFISHally a Firstie snack that I gave my new kiddos on Meet the Teacher night! Special thanks to my buddy Stephanie for making the precious fish on her Cricut! I want one so bad now!

1. Just like Ashley... The Real Housewives shows are my number one guilty pleasure! I know they are crazy but I feel like those gals are my crazy friends! In real life, I hate drama and confrontation. Maybe that is why I like it so much? LOL Plus, Andy Cohen is a hottie!

2. Diet Coke... I love it! I really do. HOWEVER, I am a recovering DC addict! I have been diet coke free for 3 weeks and four days. But who is counting right? haha I am trying to be healthier so I quit! I am too ashamed to admit how many I drank a day! Even though I am not drinking them now, just the thought of drinking one and feeling the burn down my throat makes me happy!

3. Target's Dollar Spot..... I don't know why I love just looking a pure junk but I do! I can walk away with nothing or 50 bucks worth of dollar deals and it makes me happy!

4. The worst one for sure.. I love watching Toddlers and Tiaras. (one of my kiddos got when hooked on it) I know it's watching BAD PARENTING at its finest but I just can't help myself! Same thing goes for Dance Moms! (see I do have a problem)

5. My newest is Maybooks. I have said goodbye to ugly notebooks for good! Check them out at www.maybooks.com
